An inspection is only as good as the information it starts with. A little preparation makes a real difference to what the roofer can tell you.
- Clear access to the loft hatch and move stored items away from the eaves
- Have any previous survey, quotation or invoice to hand
- Note the dates you have seen damp appear, and the weather at the time
- Photograph stains before they dry out and fade
- Make sure side access and any locked gates are open
- Mention anything you know about the roof's age or previous work
Questions worth asking on the day
- What is the actual cause, not just the symptom?
- What needs doing now, and what can reasonably wait?
- What happens if I do nothing for twelve months?
- Can I have the photographs?
